A Confession!

Now...

This may come to a surprise to you but...

Until last Thursday..

I had never bet on a horse in all my life!

You see, for me, Focus Ratings was always a technical exercise; a way of using my mathematical and programming skills to bring a unique and much needed service to people who needed more information in order to help them with their horse racing.

However, with the upcoming launch of our Free Portfolio this week, Jill and I have decided to risk our life savings (well, £50 of our life savings) on some considered gambles on our Portfolio selections.

So, as we make our bets, we'll be writing about them (either daily or a twice a week catchup blog) here.

Results, so far...

Thursday 2nd October:

So, on Thursday, we put a whole £2 on the only backing selection from the Portfolio.

Bumper Drops! - where R4 Status = 1 and where Race Type = National Hunt - Flat and where RC0 (Good Race/Bad Race) = 1 and Horse has dropped 1 Class

Selection = Back to ISP - Warwick - 17:20:00 - Always Managing (2)

Races (over last year): 15 Wins: 6 Strike Rate: 40.00% ROI: 172.40%

Obviously, Always Managing did the decent thing and won at 2.50 - our £50 betting bank rose to a massive £53!

Friday 3rd October

On Friday we had a massive 1 day losing run when our selection (obviously not understanding how important winning was to us)...

Lost?

AW Seasonal Losers (to win!) - where R4 Status = 1 and where R4 is Greater than Average R4 and the Horse\'s Average R4 is greater than 2.5 and where Race Type = All Weather and where the Race is Not a Handicap Race and the Race\'s RC1 is greater than 60% and where Position last time out = Unplaced and the Month is January or the Month is February or the Month is March or the Month is September or the Month is October or the Month is November or the Month is December and the Horse\'s Confidence is greater than 140%

Selection = Back to ISP - Wolverhampton (AW) - 18:20:00 - Regal Parade (5)

Races (over last year): 22 Wins: 14 Strike Rate: 63.64% ROI: 178.19%

As we'd staked £2, our betting bank dived down to only £51.

Saturday 4th October

On Saturday I decided not to back our selection (I wrote an article about why I did this, here... http://focusratings.com/strategies/selection-filtering/)

Sunday 5th October

Yesterday I decided to back the selection with another whopping £2.

Flat Big Field Maiden Favs - where R4 Status = 1 and where Race Type = Flat and where the Race is a Maiden Race and Runners was equal to or more than 16 and Horse was a Favourite, Joint Favourite or a Co Favourite

Selection = Back to ISP - Tipperary - 14:05:00 - Vilman (15)

Races (over last year): 10 Wins: 7 Strike Rate: 70.00% ROI: 210.00%

Vilman did the job that we'd asked of him and won at 2.37

I rather suspect that my holding my breath for 2 minutes, having my fingers and toes crossed and watching the race with my eyes close may have helped?

Our betting bank now stands at a massive £53.75

Which...

In my book is a 7.50% rise in just 4 days.

Now, I don't know what you get from your building society (or other financial investments) but...

That's got to be an incredible APR?

If we keep this up (and gradually and sensibly increase our stakes)...

This time, next year, Rodney...

We'll be millionaires!

As always...

My kindest regards
