Results by Race Type – Top Rated

Although we've only been going for seven months (and thus don't have a full year's data to analyse), one of our members (thank you, Paul, for your input) has asked for an updated Results by Race Type analysis.

Actually, I believe that others may have also asked for the same but, following a slightly less than successful move to a different email client (disastrous might be a better way of describing it?) I seem to have lost all my tags (I tag my emails to indicate which ones are urgent, which ones I need to come back to later etc.) and am, thus, in email hell!

Anyway, I'm working through my emails trying to work out which ones I have replied to etc. and am taking a few hours off from that to produce this report.

This report only shows the performance of the top rated horse; I shall attempt to produce a similar report in the very near future showing the same details for the top three rated horses.

Spreadsheet

There is a spreadsheet, detailing the same information but in an easier to read format, which may be downloaded from.... http://focusratings.com/data/results_by_race_type.xls - to download the spreadsheet all you need to do is right mouse click on the link and choose "Save File As.." or similar (depending on your web browser.)

I have updated the spreadsheet (just in case you have already downloaded the older copy) to include a column for the Place Strike Rate.

This is literally the strike rate for the top rated horse being 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Now, I know that some of the races had less than 8 runners; thus, only the 1st and 2nd places pay out but...

At the same time, some of the races will have had more than 15 runners (where 4th place pays out.)

The work involved in getting the place strike rate 100% accurate is currently beyond me and I think that we'll have to hope that one error balances the other one out.

Results by Race Type

The following results are for Focus Ratings rated races between the dates of 7th of January 2013 and the 7th July 2013 (inclusive.)

 

Conclusion

I'll leave you to digest the information and draw your own conclusions.

The stand out points for me are....

1). All Weather Apprentice races look interesting with a win strike rate of 52.38% (albeit from a very low sample.)

2). All Weather Selling races are also good with a 52.08% win strike rate of 52.08% (from a similarly low sample.)

3). NH Novice Hurdles are interesting with a win strike rate of 38.15% (from a decent sample.)

You'll need to download the spreadsheet to investigate the following...

4). The place strike rate for All Weather Maiden races, at 74.75%, is pretty exceptional I believe?

5). The same goes for Flat Maiden races with a place strike rate of 71.55%

6). Once again, NH Novice Hurdles did well with a place strike rate of 76.3%
