Good morning...

From today...

I shall be slightly changing the way I display the new Focus Ratings R9 Portfolio selections.

At the moment I show the information as follows...

Chelmsford - 19:30 - Shining Aitch - Place Bet (0.566)

The number in the brackets is the Horse Reward/Risk Ratio.

This is the historical strike rate for the race type multiplied by the anticipated return (profit) should that selection be successful.

From today I shall display the information as follows...

Chelmsford - 19:30 - Shining Aitch - Place Bet (66.3% - 0.566)

This shows the historical strike rate for that race type.

This is primarily to allow you to make your betting decisions based upon all of the available information.

You might, for example, choose to bet on the lowest risk (highest historical strike rate) selection of the day if you are risk averse.

If you select the horse/selection with the highest Reward/Risk Ratio you will do so in the knowledge of the historical strike rate.

This puts you in control.

Until I commercialise the R9 Portfolio selections (possibly about a month away) they are free to Focus Ratings, EarlyBird Ratings, Place Profits and Intelligent Betting (free or paying) members – just email me and I’ll put you on the list.

Task List...

In order to be honest and truly transparent with you...

I will now be publishing my task list on the Morning News.

You will be able to see what I am working on and, more importantly, what progress I am making.

Here are the current tasks...

T01). Work out a number of strategies to utilise R9 and provide Focus Rating members free Portfolio Betting selections across a number of different betting strategies (win backing, place backing, dutching, laying and,
the other thing that I described that I don't know what it is called) on a daily basis.

T02). For Compass Ratings, display, on screen and via a email PDF, the twice weekly updated trainer/jockey win/place strike rates.

T03). For Compass Ratings, complete the eBook that explains all the weird and wonderful things that I have learned about Hong Kong Horse racing.

T04). Complete PaperTradeIt.com - a free site where you can privately log your bets and get Strike Rate, POI (to ISP and BSP) data and losing run analysis on those bets.

I'm trying to knock off the easy/quick jobs first in order to reduce the size of the list; the size of the list scares me sometimes and, believe me, I have twice as many jobs on the Admin/BAU (Business As Usual - things like automated scripts, backups and server log file analysis - stuff that all website owners have to do) task list to get through as well.

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 96.64 units returned to 125 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -22.69%

Top Rated Horse - There were 10 winners from the top rated horses from 43 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 35.83 units returned to 43 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -16.67%

2nd Rated Horse - There were 5 winners from the second rated horses from 40 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 30.48 units returned to 40 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -23.8%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 7 winners from the third rated horses from 42 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 30.33 units returned to 42 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -27.79%

Non Handicap Races - Top Rated Horse - There were 16 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 7 Top Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for Top Rated Horses) was 43.75%

Top Rated Horse - If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 21.58 units returned to 16 units staked. The Top Rated Non-Handicap Profit Index was, thus, 34.88%

Non Handicap Races - Top Three Rated Horses - There were 16 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 12 Top Three Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for the Top Three Rated Horses) was 75%

Something to make you smile...

Dear John...

A United States Marine was deployed to Afghanistan.

While he was there he received a "Dear John" letter from his girlfriend.

In the letter she explained that she had slept with two guys while he had been gone and she wanted to break up with him.

To add injury to the insult, she said she wanted back the picture of herself that she had given him.

So the Marine did what any squared-away Marine would do.

He went around to his buddies and collected all the unwanted photos of women he could find.

In all, he got more than 25 pictures of various women (some with clothes and some without).

He then mailed them to his now-former girlfriend with the following note:

"I don't remember which one you are. Please remove your picture and send the rest back."
