Morning News – 03/05/2021

6620418Good morning...

After a lovely weekend off I now realise that I have some serious thinking to do.

I have spent about 100 hours working on a combined strategy for utilising R8; so that we can place multiple bets of different types on the same race.

However, R9 is just so much better that I may have to write that work off or...

Rather, use the same principles but rely on R9 as the basis.

I am hoping that the R9 ratings will be published on the Focus Ratings morning email.

I am going to write a document that explains the difference between all the different ratings.

Yesterday's R9 ratings may be seen here... http://focusratings.com/data/focusratings-R9-2021-05-02.pdf

There were 12 R9 rated races yesterday.

These are the results for the top rated horse in each of those races...

Newmarket - 13:50 - Zabeel Champion - 1st @ 3.25 ISP (3.54 BSP)
Salisbury - 14:05 - Prince Alex - 4th
Sligo - 14:15 - Prairie Dancer - 2nd
Newmarket - 14:25 - Mystery Angel - 1st @ 7.50 ISP (7.91 BSP)
Salisbury - 14:35 - Oman - 1st @ 2.75 ISP (2.75 BSP)
Hamilton - 14:40 - Hochfeld - 2nd
Newmarket - 15:00 - Queen Power - 2nd
Salisbury - 15:10 - No Recollection - 1st @ 2.25 ISP (2.23 BSP)
Salisbury - 15:45 - Samoot - 1st @ 1.91 ISP (2.0 BSP)
Sligo - 16:30 - Slade Runner - 7th
Newmarket - 17:20 - Tawleed - 1st @ 5.0 ISP (5.45 BSP)
Hamilton - 17:25 - Pearl Of Qaatar - 1st @ 2.37 ISP (2.42 BSP)

Now, you have to bear in mind that these are just ratings, not tips.

I haven't done any detailed analysis but it is obvious that you would have made a profit by blindly backing the top rated horse in every R9 rated race.

Also, you would have made a profit by place betting those same horses.

And, from a quick look, I think a profit would have been made by dutching the top 2 rated horses in the 4 races where there were more than 1 rated horse.

So, as you can see, a lot think thinking for me to do.

I'm going to go for a walk around the village lake this afternoon and...

lake

Have a chat with the ducks (and the swans, of course) to see what they think.

Obviously, I may have to stop on route for refreshment (and inspiration.)

These questions that I really need to answer are...

1). Do I re-visit Investment Betting and see if I can improve results by relying on R9 rather than R8?

2). Do I re-visit Place Profits and see if I can improve results by relying on R9 rather than R8?

3). Should I create Advance Ratings Plus as an addition PDF; one that only shows ratings for when I can rate every horse in the race?

4). Should I create RSR (Really Simple Ratings) Plus (based on the same premise) over at Intelligent Betting?

Speaking of which...

Intelligent Betting

We've had a great start to the month.

Actually, great isn't really a big enough word!

Take a look at the results of our system selections...

2021-05-03--1620013944_656x575_scrot

Lots of blue - that's what I like to see.

And, talking about lots of blue, take a look at the results of Roy's (my partner at Intelligent Betting and long term Focus Ratings member) new ROFT (Roy's One For Today) selections.

One highly considered selection every day - currently free to Intelligent Betting members (free or full.)

2021-05-03--1620014376_672x483_scrot

Now...

Either Roy is the jammiest man in the world or, an incredibly fine student of the ratings (in all their forms.)

As Roy is a modest man I think that he'd suggest the former; I tend to disagree and rather think that it is the latter.

Task List...

In order to be honest and truly transparent with you...

I will now be publishing my task list on the Morning News.

You will be able to see what I am working on and, more importantly, what progress I am making.

Here are the current tasks...

T01). Work out a number of strategies to utilise R8 and provide Focus Rating mem height="746"bers free Portfolio Betting selections across a number of different betting strategies (win backing, place backing, dutching, laying and, the other thing that I described that I don't know what it is called) on a daily basis.

T02). For Compass Ratings, display, on screen and via a email PDF, the twice weekly updated trainer/jockey win/place strike rates.

T03). For Compass Ratings, complete the eBook that explains all the weird and wonderful things that I have learned about Hong Kong Horse racing.

T04). Complete PaperTradeIt.com - a free site where you can privately log your bets and get Strike Rate, POI (to ISP and BSP) data and losing run analysis on those bets.

T05). Re-launch Intelligent-Betting.com - very good good things are happening there as we speak and it is becoming a vital (and also, very profitable) tool for those who like to think about their betting.

I'm trying to knock off the easy/quick jobs first in order to reduce the size of the list; the size of the list scares me sometimes and, believe me, I have twice as many jobs on the Admin/BAU (Business As Usual - things like automated scripts, backups and server log file analysis - stuff that all website owners have to do) task list to get through as well.
