Good morning...

Yesterday I should have worked on the new Builder but...

I had this urge to investigate something that I had noticed over the weekend.

I spent most of the day working on a spreadsheet which show the performance of the top two rated horses when the confidence of the 3rd rated horse is a maximum of 50%

It seems that 80% of those races are won by either the top rated horse or the 2nd rated horse.

I am currently going through the spreadsheet adding BSPs for those races where I don't have them.

Dutching the top two rated horses in the above scenario seems, so far, to be profitable to BSP.

I need to do a quick check to see what happens if we only look at those races where the 3rd rated horse has a confidence of less than or equal to 40% to see how that affects things.

I will spend the rest of today working on the spreadsheet before getting back to the Builder on Wednesday.

2nd Rated Horse - There were 5 winners from the second rated horses from 34 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 31.25 units returned to 34 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -8.09%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 2 winners from the third rated horses from 40 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 9.2 units returned to 40 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -77%

Non Handicap Races - Top Rated Horse - There were 12 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 6 Top Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for Top Rated Horses) was 50%

Top Rated Horse - If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 16.42 units returned to 12 units staked. The Top Rated Non-Handicap Profit Index was, thus, 36.83%

Non Handicap Races - Top Three Rated Horses - There were 12 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 7 Top Three Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for the Top Three Rated Horses) was 58.33%

Something to make you smile...

George the Mailman...

It was George the Mailman's last day on the job after 35 years of carrying the mail through all kinds of weather to the same neighborhood.

When he arrived at the first house on his route, he was greeted by the whole family who congratulated him and sent him on his way with a tidy gift envelope.

At the second house, they presented him with a box of fine cigars.

The folks at the third house handed him a selection of terrific fishing lures.

At the fourth house, he was met at the door by a strikingly beautiful blonde woman in a revealing negligee.

She took him by the hand, gently led him through the door, which she closed behind him, and took him up the stairs to the bedroom where she blew his mind with the most passionate love he had ever experienced.

When he had enough, they went downstairs and she fixed him a giant breakfast: eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, blueberry waffles, and fresh-squeezed orange juice.

When he was truly satisfied, she poured him a cup of steaming coffee.

As she was pouring, he noticed a dollar bill sticking out from under the cup's bottom edge.

"All this was just too wonderful for words," he said, "But what's the dollar for?"

"Well," she said, "Last night, I told my husband that today would be your last day, and that we should do something special for you. I asked him what to give you.

He said, 'Screw him. Give him a dollar.'

The breakfast was my idea."
