Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

I was very tempted to take the day off today, as far as the morning news is concerned...

As I don't really have much to say.

However, as I am changing the way that I am reporting the Overall Profit Index (and the other Profit indexes) I do need to say something.

Currently, if we get an overall return of 80% from our stakes by blindly backing every top three rated horse, I show that as an Overall Profit Index of 80%.

From today, I shall show that as an Overall Profit Index of -20%.

This is a more appropriate way of describing the results.

I may also be making some changes to the way that I display the Speed Ratings and I'll explain my ideas in a bit.

Anyway, I'll get to that, firstly let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's results in more detail....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 36.84%.

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 42.59 units returned to 55 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -22.56%

Top Rated Horse - If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 17.59 units returned to 19 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -7.42%

2nd Rated Horse - If you had blindly backed the second rated horse in all of the races you would have had 6 units returned to 18 units staked. The Second Rated Profit Index was, thus, -66.67%

3nd Rated Horse - If you had blindly backed the third rated horse in all of the races you would have had 19 units returned to 18 units staked. The Third Rated Profit Index was, thus, 5.56%

The Portfolio

There was neither a Banker's Bet nor a Chancer's Bet yesterday.

On the Portfolio Page there is now a link to the Banker's Bet Proofing Page and, also to the Chancer's Bet proofing page.

You may subscribe to my Portfolio. To do so, you need to go to your Members Page and change option 4 on the Your Profile bit.

If you haven't subscribed, the button will say Yes - just click on it and you'll be signed up.

Live Ratings

There were two races yesterday where a top three rated horse was a non-runner.

In both cases, the Live Ratings didn't help us.

Speed Ratings

I have woken up today, curiously inspired by a new way of describing the Speed Ratings.

Rather than show the seconds per furlong, I am going to look at the percentage Seconds per Furlong when the horse's speed is compared to the average speed of the race.

And then come up with an abstract number that I'll display along side the Average Seconds per Furlong for races in that code.

This may give us a more meaningful number and...

Will allow me to consider generating Speed Ratings for National Hunt races.

Anyway, that is today's project and I have to admit that I have a nice, warm feeling about it.

I'll update you tomorrow with the results.

Although I do have a horrible feeling that it'll be harder to explain it to you than to actually calculate!

Such is life.

I'm still on course to start publishing the new Speed Ratings from this Saturday;

However, if this new strategy/perspective shows promise then that date might slip by a few days.

Today

Today's early test ratings show 18 rated races from three meetings.

Have a great day's racing!

5 star ratingsOnce again, if you've got anything to say about Focus Ratings, please wander over to the Focus Ratings Review at Tipsters Review and have your say.

The income that we make from sign ups from that site keeps me in Red Wine and Smelly Cheese!

As always...

My kindest regards
