Good morning...

If all goes well today...

The R8 PDF (available on the morning ratings email) will,

Show all races where the top rated horse on R4 is also the top rated horse on ADR (the Advance Ratings ratings.)

These will be the R8=1 races.

Some race may have 2 horses shown;

These will be for races where the top rated horse is top rated on R4 and also on Advance Ratings and, also,

The second rated horse is also second rated by both ratings agencies.

These races will be the R8=2 races.

And, so forth.

This is actually a big thing...

It is the way forward for Focus Ratings;

Using a set of ratings based upon where two totally separate and different ratings agencies agree on the top few rated horses is a major move forward.

Portfolio Selections...

I have switched off the daily Portfolio selections email.

I will switch it back on once I have come up with a new set of selections based upon R8.

The Portfolio selections may be win bets, lay bets, dutching bets and place bets.

You can pick and choose which selections you choose to use.

I will attempt to ask Steve at Racing-Index.com if he will allow me to independently proof these selections to him/his service.

Spotlight Ratings...

There seems to be a paucity of decent International Group, Graded or Listed races at the moment.

However, there seems to be a pretty good race at Flemington (Aus) on Saturday - I will get the ratings for that race compiled and sent out today.

Compass Ratings...

There is an 11 race meeting at Sha Tin on Sunday.

It starts at 4:30 am UK time - I will get the ratings for that race out by lunchtime today.

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 64.5 units returned to 41 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, 57.32%

Top Rated Horse - There were 3 winners from the top rated horses from 12 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 15 units returned to 12 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, 25%

2nd Rated Horse - There were 2 winners from the second rated horses from 13 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 36 units returned to 13 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, 176.92%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 3 winners from the third rated horses from 16 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 13.5 units returned to 16 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -15.62%

Non Handicap Races - Top Rated Horse - There were 7 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 2 Top Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for Top Rated Horses) was 28.57%

Top Rated Horse - If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 11.5 units returned to 7 units staked. The Top Rated Non-Handicap Profit Index was, thus, 64.29%

Non Handicap Races - Top Three Rated Horses - There were 7 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 5 Top Three Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for the Top Three Rated Horses) was 71.43%

The Library...

A man was looking for a place to sit in a crowded university library. He asked a girl: "Do you mind if I sit beside you?"

The girl replied, in a loud voice "NO, I DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH YOU!"

All the people in the library started staring at the man, who was deeply embarrassed and moved to another table.

After a couple of minutes, the girl walked quietly to the man's table and said with a laugh: "I study psychology, and I know what a man is thinking; I bet you felt embarrassed, right?"

The man responded in a loud voice: "$500 FOR ONE NIGHT? ... I`M NOT PAYING YOU THAT MUCH!"

All the people in the library looked at the girl in shock.

The man whispered to her: "I study law, and I know how to screw people".
