Morning News – 13/07/2021

6620418Good morning...

Today I want to talk a bit more about the new Focus Ratings R9 Portfolio Selections.

I've received quite a few inquiries from Place Profits and Intelligent Betting members about this service.

Now, Focus Ratings members can get the selections for free but I am working on a low cost service for Place Profits and Intelligent Betting members.

Place Profits members might want to take a really good look at yesterday's selections (hint, hint.)

Now...

Yesterday wasn't an ideal example as we only had Place Bets.

Ideally we would have Win Bets, Place Bets and Lay Bets - often all in the same race.

The ideal race would be where we had 4 top 4 rated horses and we might Win Bet the top rated horse but also place bet it as well.

Then there might be a place bet on each of the second and third rated horse and a lay bet on the fourth rated horse.

In some cases the might even be a place bet on the fourth rated horse as well.

Yesterday's selections...

Race 1: Race Reward/Risk Ratio = 0.277

Dundalk - 13:35 - War Hero - PLace Bet (0.134)

Dundalk - 13:35 - Irish Aclaim - Place Bet (0.420)

Race 2: Race Reward/Risk Ratio = 0.483

Dundalk - 15:20 - Zahee - Place Bet (0.483)

Race 3: Race Reward/Risk Ratio = 0.131

Killarney - 17:15 - Horoscope - Place Bet (0.131)

Race 4: Race Reward/Risk Ratio = 0.266

Killarney - 19:15 - La Petite Coco - Place Bet (0.266)

The numbers in the brackets are the Reward/Risk Ratio for that horse. It is, basically, the historical strike rate for that race type multiplied by the anticipated profit.

Now I don't expect people to bet on all of those horses but, if they had, yesterday, this would have been the result...

Dundalk - 13:35 - War Hero - PLace Bet - 8th
Dundalk - 13:35 - Irish Aclaim - Place Bet - 2nd @ 1.43
Dundalk - 15:20 - Zahee - Place Bet - 1st @ 2.34 (for the place)
Killarney - 17:15 - Horoscope - Place Bet - 1st @ 1.67
Killarney - 19:15 - La Petite Coco - Place Bet - 1st @ 1.16

So, 1.548 points profit for the day. Just by doing the place bets this looks pretty good as the prices are sometimes quite high.

Actual Bets...

However, yesterday I split up the selections into a number of bets (of suggested bets.)

Advised Bet - 5 Points bet on one race.

Race 2 - Dundalk - 15:20 - Zahee (Place Bet) - 5 Points - 1st @ 2.34 for the place.

So, a 6.566 points profit on the 5 points staked.

Bankers Bets - 10 points bet on 2 races

Race 1 - Dundalk - 13:35 - War Hero (Place Bet) - 1.292 Points - 8th - 1.292 points loss
Race 1 - Dundalk - 13:35 - Irish Aclaim (Place Bet) - 4.050 Points - 2nd @ 1.43 for the place - 1.7066 points profit
Race 2 - Dundalk - 15:20 - Zahee (Place Bet) - 4.657 Points - 1st @ 2.34 for the place - 6.11 points profit

So, a 6.5246 points profit on the 10 points staked.

Chancers Bets - 10 points bet on 3 races

Race 1 - Dundalk - 13:35 - War Hero (Place Bet) - 1.028 Points - 8th - 1.028 points loss
Race 1 - Dundalk - 13:35 - Irish Aclaim (Place Bet) - 3.223 Points - 2nd @ 1.43 for the place - 1.358 points profit
Race 2 - Dundalk - 15:20 - Zahee (Place Bet) - 3.706 Points - 1st @ 2.34 for the place - 4.866 points profit
Race 4 - Killarney - 19:15 - La Petite Coco (Place Bet) - 2.041 Points - 1st @ 1.16 for the place - 0.320 points profit

A 5.516 points profit on the 10 points staked.

An Explanation...

For the Advised Bet you only have one race; the best race of the day in terms of Race Reward/Risk Ratio.

So, you bet the entire 5 points stakes on that race.

However, if there are more than selections in that race, you split that stake up but, unlike dutching, rather than splitting the total/allocated stake up according to their starting prices, you split the stakes up according to the individual Horse Reward/Risk ratios so that you are betting more on the horse(s) with the higher Reward/Risk Ratio and less on those horses with lower Reward/Risk Ratios.

In the Bankers Bets and Chancers Bets selections, where you have more than one race, you just split your total stake up over the number of races but, allocating the stakes for each race according to the Race/Reward Ratio.

Conclusion...

Now, I am sorry that this is taking so long to come to fruition but it's been a devil to audit and get right.

I'm sure that someone is going to ask for historical data...

Well, I've struggled to write the code to generate this so, if I am to do that, I will have to do it manually and that will take a lots of time.

But, today I will cut a spreadsheet with the relevant data and get started so that I have an idea of how long it is going to take.

Task List...

In order to be honest and truly transparent with you...

I will now be publishing my task list on the Morning News.

You will be able to see what I am working on and, more importantly, what progress I am making.

Here are the current tasks...

T01). Work out a number of strategies to utilise R9 and provide Focus Rating members free Portfolio Betting selections across a number of different betting strategies (win backing, place backing, dutching, laying and, the other thing that I described that I don't know what it is called) on a daily basis.

T02). For Compass Ratings, display, on screen and via a email PDF, the twice weekly updated trainer/jockey win/place strike rates.

T03). For Compass Ratings, complete the eBook that explains all the weird and wonderful things that I have learned about Hong Kong Horse racing.

T04). Complete PaperTradeIt.com - a free site where you can privately log your bets and get Strike Rate, POI (to ISP and BSP) data and losing run analysis on those bets.

I'm trying to knock off the easy/quick jobs first in order to reduce the size of the list; the size of the list scares me sometimes and, believe me, I have twice as many jobs on the Admin/BAU (Business As Usual - things like automated scripts, backups and server log file analysis - stuff that all website owners have to do) task list to get through as well.

Something to make you smile...

An Englishman, Frenchman, American and Mexican are on a plane...

Plane starts going down and the pilot yells “we need to cast off weight to make a landing but there is only one parachute!”

So the Brit decides to be valiant and be the first to jump. “God save the Queen!” and he jumps out.

The Frenchman follows suit: “Vive le France!” and out he goes.

The American wastes no time: “To liberty!” and throws out the Mexican.
