Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

There's really not much that I can say about yesterday and so, I'll not really be doing a Morning News today.

Yesterday I wasted 6 hours working on a simple little problem that should have taken me 5 minutes to sort out.

In the end I had to ask three of the members for their advice and help (thanks Dave, Neil and Ang) and that's sort of embarrassing (having to ask for help) and sort of shows that I need a couple of days off (I still can't believe that I wasted 6 hours on a 5 minute problem!) .

It messes up my Winter Upgrades schedule but, so what.

Anyway, it's Easter and Easter is very important in rural Catholic Brittany

And Monday looks interesting with 9 meetings and so perhaps it's better that I spend the day watching the racing rather than working on the ratings.

That might actually be more productive than spending the day writing code.

Wow, two days off in a row - I can't remember the last time that happened.

Actually, I do remember; I did take a weekend off in September 2013 and that did me the world of good!

So, today I'm going to concentrate on ordering a "Fruits des Mer" and just enjoying myself (instead of working.)

And, as I'm not going to waffle on about yesterday's results (they were pretty poor for the normal ratings but pretty amazing for the new Speed Ratings)...

I've got a couple of jokes for you instead (thanks, David - I'm not sure why you're sending me jokes at 4am in the morning - sleep is good, you know - but I'm not complaining.)

Something to make you laugh...

The Sheep

Focus_ratings_sheepA guy walks into the bedroom with a sheep on a leash and says ...

"Honey, this is the cow I make love to when you have a headache."

The wife, lying in the bed reading a book, looks up and says, "If you weren't such an idiot, you'd know that's a sheep, not a cow."

The guy replies, "Darling, if you weren't such an idiot, you'd realize I was talking to the sheep."

The Barber

A Guy stuck his head into a barbershop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?"

The barber looked around the shop full of customers and said, "About 2 hours."

The guy left.

A few days later, the same guy stuck his head in the door and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?"

The barber looked around at the shop and said, "About 3 hours."

The guy left.

A week later, the same guy stuck his head in the shop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?"

The barber looked around the shop and said, "About an hour and a half."

The guy left.

The barber turned to his friend and said, "Hey, Bob, do me a favour, follow him and see where he goes. He keeps asking how long he has to wait for a haircut, but he never comes back."

A little while later, Bob returned to the shop, laughing hysterically.

The barber asked, "So, where does he go when he leaves?"

Bob looked up, wiped the tears from his eyes and said....

"Your house!"

Today

Today doesn't look too interesting with only 32 races from five meetings but perhaps I'm just more excited about Monday.

I am, however, very interested to see what the new Speed Ratings will do at Musselburgh.

It has been suggested that we do better on the new Speed Ratings on non handicap races (thanks, Stan.)

I also think that they should work better for shorter distances.

Today might help me get my head around that.

Have a great day's racing!

5 star ratingsOnce again, if you've got anything to say about Focus Ratings, please wander over to the Focus Ratings Review at Tipsters Review and have your say.

The income that we make from sign ups from that site keeps me in Red Wine and Smelly Cheese!

As always...

My kindest regards
