Morning News – 14/01/2021

6620418Good morning...

Yesterday, as promised...

I carried on looking at the potential of Dutching the top two rated horses when the top rated is top on Focus Ratings R4 and also top on Advance Ratings R3 and...

The second rated horse is 2nd rated on R4 and 2nd rated on Advance Ratings and...

The 3rd rated horse is 3rd rated on R4 and 3rd rated on Advance ratings and...

The 3rd rated horse has a confidence of 86% or lower.

261d17a2b23da82d97f5f58d9f99d94fNow, when something seems to be too good to be true, it almost is too good to be true.

Then is almost certainly is.

Or, is it?

Rather than write some code to give me the information I needed,

I just extracted the raw data from the database and went through it, line by line, manually selecting the qualifying races.

Obviously, this is a very slow process.

Yesterday I only managed to do Jan 2018; today I expect to get up to June or July of 2018.

Once I reach that point I'll probably be able to work out how to write the code to extract the relevant data.

However, by doing it race by race (in a spreadsheet) I do get to see all the relevant data and may notice trends.

From the little work that I got done yesterday, I had some interesting results.

You can see these on this spreadsheet... http://focusratings.com/docs/Dutching-Jan-2018.xlsx

As you will see...

In January of 2018, there were 27 races that satisfied the following criteria...

1). Top rated horse is top rated on Focus Ratings R4 and Advance Ratings.

2). Second rated horse is second rated on Focus Ratings R4 and Advance Ratings.

3). Third rated horse is third rated on Focus Ratings R4 and Advance Ratings.

4). Third rated horse has a confidence of 86% or lower.

If, in those races, you dutch the top two rated horses you get...

27 races.

22 winning dutches.

This equates to a strike rate (for the dutch) of 81.48% and

A POI (Profit on Investment) of 48.58%

Just looking at the spreadsheet I can see that you could easily stake this to a 10 point bank.

In fact, if you were betting to £10 stakes (thus, requiring an initial investment of £100 for your bank), because we start with 5 winning dutches in a row, your bank never falls below £100.

At the end of the month, your initial bank of £100 has risen to £231.15

I'd like to thank Mike C. who inspired me to take a look at this way of using R8.

Today I shall carry on with manually going through the spreadsheet to see if January 2018 was just a freak month.

I shall also look at another strategy.

This will be...

What happens if,

1). Top rated horse is top rated on Focus Ratings R4 and Advance Ratings.

2). Second rated horse is second rated on Focus Ratings R4 and Advance Ratings.

3). Third rated horse is NOT the third rated on Focus Ratings R4 and Advance Ratings.

If two totally different ratings agencies can't agree on the third rated horse (but certainly agree that it shouldn't be top three rated) then that horse is probably a Donkey and, that makes it more likely that one of the top two rated horses will win.

It will be interesting to see which strategy is the more profitable.

But Just Before He Re-entered The Lander, He Made The Enigmatic Remark 'good Luck, Mr. Gorsky.'

Many People At Nasa Thought It Was A Casual Remark Concerning Some Rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, Upon Checking, There Was No Gorsky In Either The Russian Or American Space Programs.

Over The Years Many People Questioned Armstrong As To What The 'good Luck, Mr. Gorsky'... Statement Meant, But Armstrong Always Just Smiled.

On July 5, 1995, In Tampa Bay , Florida , While Answering Questions Following A Speech, A Reporter Brought Up The 26 Year-old Question To Armstrong. This Time He Finally Responded. Mr. Gorsky Had Died, So Neil Armstrong Felt He Could Now Answer The Question.

In 1938, When Neil Was A Kid In A Small Mid-west Town , He Was Playing Baseball With A Friend In The Backyard. His Friend Hit The Ball, Which Landed In His Neighbor's Yard By Their Bedroom Window.
