Morning News – 2022-10-05

Good morning...

Just a heads up...

This is mainly for Intelligent Betting members;

Yesterday I had an electrician come round and, as a result, was without power for a few hours.

That meant the the Intelligent Betting selections went out late.

However, when they are compiled they do appear on the Members Area of the website (on the sidebar on the right hand side of the website.)

Thus, if ever I am late sending out the daily files email you can always check on the website to get your files.

I have two projects on the go at the moment.

Project 1

Today I shall take another look at the EarlyBird preview ratings to see if I can find a strategy to produce daily Multiple bets.

Our current strategy just isn't creating enough bets.

I have now worked out how to select the top rated Early Bird Preview horse if it is also top rated on Advance Ratings.

These should give us (assuming a suitable selection strategy) more selections and will have the bonus that they will come out the evening before race day - thus allowing you to use BOG (best odds guaranteed) or get decent early prices.

Project 2

Secondly, I am recreating the Compass Ratings (Hong Kong Ratings) results database.

I am also going to re-write the code from scratch to ensure that the ratings are accurate and easier to produce.

I hope to have this finished by the weekend to be tested at Sha Tin and, if all goes well, I shall be able to start publishing them again, twice a week, starting with next Wednesday's meeting at Happy Valley.

Tomorrow I shall explain why I feel the need to completely re-write the code but, for today, it is best that I just get on and generate a new results database.

The Hospital...

A sweet old lady telephoned the hospital.

She timidly asked, "Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?"

The operator said, "I can, what's the name and room number?"

The old lady in her weak voice said, "Doreen Jacobs, Room 604."

The operator replied, "Let me place you on hold while I check with her nurse."

After a few minutes the operator returned to the phone and said, "Oh, I have good news, her nurse just told me that Doreen is doing very well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back as normal and her physician, Dr. Ross, has scheduled her to be discharged on Tuesday."

The old lady said, "Thank you. That's wonderful! I was so worried! God bless you!"

The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Doreen your daughter?"

The grandmother said, "No, I'm Doreen Jacobs in room 604. No one tells me shit.”
