I apologise for no Morning News yesterday - somehow I overslept.
Before I start explaining the R10 Bet the Race spreadsheet (so far I haven't come up with a better name) I ought to mention that, over here is a Bank Holiday and I have plans and , thus, there will be no Morning News.
So, onto the spreadsheet.
This is available at... R11_V1.xlsx
1). The first tab is the raw data - every R10 rated race (all runners in that race) from 2016/01/01 to 2022/05/24
2). The second tab shows just those top 3 rated horses for that period. What interest me is just how many top rated horses (coloured in green - column N - R4s) actually win the race (coloured in green - column S - Result) as below...
3). The third tab shows the race type analysis for the top three rated horses. If you scroll down you'll see that in the Refined section I have sorted the results into Strike Rate order; this is important because the more races that are won by top 3 rated horses are races that can't be won by every non top 3 rated horse running in the race. So, rather than thinking about the race winners, I am more concerned about those horses that are not going to win the race - good horses to Lay Bet, in other words.
4). The fourth tab shows the results just for the top rated horses. Once again plenty of green - in our case green is good.
5). The fifth tab shows the race type analysis for the top rated horse.
6). The sixth tab shows the race type analysis for the top rated horse with the prices (as I have some missing BSPs I have used ISP instead) and, once again, if you scroll down there are the results sorted in both Strike Rate and POI order.
7). The seventh tab show the top three rated place analysis. I haven't done much work on that but there seems to be some promise there. To see what I mean, look at row 20 which shows the top rated horse in the 13:50 at Naas - 2016-01-02. It won the race so it was obviously a Place Win. Now look at row 21 which shows the second rated horse in the same race. It came 2nd at a BSP of 17:02 for the place. It was only a 5 runner race so we wouldn't have bet the 3rd rated horse which is good as it didn't finish.
8). The eighth tab shows the results for Lay Betting every non top 3 rated horse in every race. Over the weekend I shall be concentrating on this tab to try to define some rules to decide how many lay bets there should be depending on the number of runners in the race and, the race type. I hope to have some news on Tuesday.
So, no Morning News on Monday unless...
I have very good news to share or we have torrential rain which will keep me indoors.
The overall strategy is to start with the Lay Bets; work out the best Lay Bets (in terms of number of runners and race types) and then see which of those races would work for Place Betting and then, finally, move on to the Win Bets (on the top rated horse) for those remaining race types.
That's the plan, anyway.

Stalin appears to Putin in a dream...
"Why is everything here so bad?" asks Putin, "what can I do to make Russia great again?"
Stalin replies, "Execute half of your population and paint the Kremlin blue."
"Why blue?" asks the inquisitive Putin.
"I knew you wouldn't object to the first part," says Stalin.
Whatever you are up to today...
Stay safe and healthy.
As always...
My kindest regards
