Good morning...
Well, not a great day as far as the statistics are concerned but...
I'm really beginning to get the feeling that there might be something to this Place Betting lark.
Yesterday we got three winners from five selections and that sits quite well for my personal betting preferences.
And even though we only made a 20% profit on investment yesterday; and a 29.62% profit on investment over the last nine days (assuming a Betfair commission of 5%), that's not a bad result.
And some of our selections are just missing out on a place, at very nice prices.
Anyway, I'll get to that, firstly let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's results in more detail....
Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 18.92%.
Yesterday's Live Ratings, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 20.51%.
Yesterday's - Link to Follow - results for All Races (including previously unrated races), show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 17.07% from all 41 Races (including previously unrated races.)
The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 76.28 units returned to 111 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -31.28%
Top Rated Horse - There were 7 winners from the top rated horses from 37 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 19.45 units returned to 37 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -47.43%
2nd Rated Horse - There were 9 winners from the second rated horses from 39 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 32.59 units returned to 39 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -16.44%
3rd Rated Horse - There were 5 winners from the third rated horses from 35 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 24.24 units returned to 35 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -30.74%

After nine days we are running at a strike rate of 47.06% (16 winners from 34 selections) and have had 40.07 points returned to 34 points staked (assuming a Betfair commission of 5%.)
I am now trying to automate the place betting strategy selection process.
I'm not sure if it'll be finished for today but I'll do my best.
I'll be creating a PDF of the selections and will be sending that out after the ratings have gone out.
Once I am happy with the format, I'll put a link on the normal ratings email - that might take a day or two.
I am still fine tuning the Handicap Strategy as I am a bit unhappy about the monthly filter.
Today's early test ratings show 48 rated races from seven meetings.
Yesterday Jill and I didn't manage to get to the beach; we ended up visiting lots of historic (or not) shoe shops and Jill bought a pair of shoes in the sales.
This is what we, in rural Brittany, do for education and fun.
And, you know what, those rich Parisiennes, who waffle on about Le Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, don't know what they are missing out on.
Today we shall attempt to get to the beach again.
I am taking the precaution of hiding my copy of "The Tourist's Guide to the Historic and Interesting Shoe Shops of Brittany" from Jill beforehand so...
Maybe we actually stand a chance of getting there.
Have a great day's racing!
Once again, if you've got anything to say about Focus Ratings, please wander over to the Focus Ratings Review at Tipsters Review and have your say.
The income that we make from sign ups from that site keeps me in Red Wine and Smelly Cheese!
As always...
My kindest regards
