Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

A pretty disappointing day but...

We did get a high priced PBS result.

I watched the results coming in and, for a moment, I thought that we weren't going to get any winners at all!

I'm sort of less worried about the day to day results and tend, these days, to concentrate more on the overall monthly results (which are still looking good) but I do worry about some of the new members who might look at one day's results and wonder what they've just signed up to.

I am now back in the land of the living and am ready to get back to work.

I did have a thought, yesterday, that I should, as well as reporting on the races where we do well...

Also report on those bad races (like the 17:40 at Balinrobe) where none of the top three rated horses even get placed.

A Zero race, in other words.

It does seem to be the honest thing to do and also, it might help some of you to identify which types of races are the riskiest.

And, that could save you some money.

Anyway, I'll get to that, firstly let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's results in more detail....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 21.21%.

Yesterday's Live Ratings, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 20.59%.

Yesterday's - Link to Follow - results for All Races (including previously unrated races), show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 20.59% from all 34 Races (including previously unrated races.)

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 97.32 units returned to 98 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -0.69%

Top Rated Horse - There were 7 winners from the top rated horses from 33 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 29.66 units returned to 33 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -10.12%

2nd Rated Horse - There were 7 winners from the second rated horses from 34 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 34.66 units returned to 34 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, 1.94%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 5 winners from the third rated horses from 31 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 33 units returned to 31 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, 6.45%

A Philosophical Points...

LIFE - FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE

This sort of sums up why I packed in a perfectly good job and moved to France.

Many thanks to David O. for this.

A boat was docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.

A tourist complimented the local fishermen on the quality of their
fish and... asked how long it took to catch them.

"Not very long" they answered in unison.

"Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?"

The fishermen explained that their small catches were sufficient to
meet their needs and those of their families.

"But what do you do with the rest of your time?"

"We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children, and take
siestas with our wives.

In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few
drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs................ We
have a full life."

The tourist interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help
you! You should start by fishing longer every day.

You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue,
you can buy a bigger boat."

"And after that?"

"With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second
one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of
trawlers.
Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate
directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own
plant.

You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los
Angeles, or even New York City!!! From there you can direct your huge
new enterprise."

"How long would that take?"

"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years." replied the tourist.

"And after that?"

"Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting,"
answered the tourist, laughing.

"When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling
stocks and make millions!"

"Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the fishermen.

"After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the
coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish,

take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings drinking and
enjoying your friends."

"With all due respect sir, but that's exactly what we are doing now.
So what's the point wasting twenty-five years?" asked the Mexicans.

And the moral of this story is:

Know where you're going in life (you may already be there) as many
times in life, money is not everything.

“Live your life before life becomes lifeless”

Today

Today's early test ratings show 28 rated races from four meetings.

Have a great day's racing!
