Morning News – 26/06/2021

6620418Good morning...

Whilst working on Easy Track at Intelligent Betting yesterday I tripped over something very interesting.

I had added in a filter to allow you to refine your alerts to different Race Codes. This might be useful to you if you are only interested in Black Beauty when he is running on Flat Turf but not too bothered when he runs on Flat All Weather (or, perhaps, over Hurdles.)

I then wondered about Recent Returners. What about a Trainer who has a habit of running a horse again soon after its last race to good effect.

So, I cut a spreadsheet (you can see it here... recent_returners.xlsx) based upon Intelligent Betting's top rated horse on RSR (Really Simple Ratings.)

Now, I'm not going to go into too much detail explaining the spreadsheet; if you read it left to right it should all make sense.

1). Tab 1 shows the core data (top rated horse on RSR)

2). Tab 2 shows the analysis of those horse that have last run 14 days and less and 7 days and less.

3). Because I had colour coded the spreadsheet, it was obvious that there was some trend towards those horses it was the Trainer's only horse in the meeting or the Jockey's only ride in the meeting (or both.)

4). Tab 5 shows those horses that have run in the last 14 days (or less) since their last run and are those horses which are their Trainer's only horse in the meeting or the Jockey's only ride in the meeting (or both.)

5). Tab 6 shows the analysis of those races with reference to the Percentage RSR (the number of horses in the race that I can actually rate.)

The colour coding helps and Tab 7 shows those horses which are their Trainer's only horse in the meeting or the Jockey's only ride in the meeting (or both) but have also run in the last 14 days or less and are now running in a race where RSR can rate at least 40% of the horses in that race.

6). Tab 8 shows some Race Type analysis of those selections and shows that we can expect the following...

Strike Rate: 25.79%

Races/Week: 8.35

POI (Profit on Stakes): 56.65%

Points Profit per year: 227 (to BSP)

7). Tab 9 shows some Race Type and Class analysis of those selections.

Now, with RSR (Really Simple Ratings) the accuracy of the ratings increases with the Price Money Value/Class of the race.

If we include Class into our equation this shows that we can expect the following...

Strike Rate: 27.96%

Races/Week: 6.70

POI (Profit on Stakes): 77.06%

Points Profit per year: 254 (to BSP)

Now, I have to talk to Roy to see if we trial this system on the forum at Intelligent Betting.

But I've also got to test the same principles on the Focus Ratings R8 and the new R9 ratings to see if we get the same (or, even better) results.

I shall be working through the weekend to make this happen; thus, there will be a Morning News tomorrow (and bugger my lie in!)

As far as Intelligent Betting is concerned...

Over the weekend I shall finish Easy Track.

Today I shall write the script to send out the Alerts.

Tomorrow that script will run but, I will be the only recipient of that email.

I will take a look at tomorrow's races and set up some temporary Alerts.

If I get the anticipated email (and Alerts) on Sunday then I will open up the script so that any of you who have alerts will also get a 3am email with your Alerts from Monday.

Then, once that is done, I shall move onto Easy Stake.

I have this idea that we should stake our bets according to the probability of those bets being successful.

For the next month I shall use the Focus Ratings Investment Betting selections to attempt to show that, by using Easy Stake, you actually make more money by varying your stakes accordingly to the relative Reward/Risk Ratio of every bet.

I will be showing the details at Intelligent Betting but I'll also be reporting on the results at Focus Ratings on the Morning News.

Task List...

In order to be honest and truly transparent with you...

I will now be publishing my task list on the Morning News.

You will be able to see what I am working on and, more importantly, what progress I am making.

Here are the current tasks...

T01). Work out a number of strategies to utilise R9 and provide Focus Rating members free Portfolio Betting selections across a number of different betting strategies (win backing, place backing, dutching, laying and, the other thing that I described that I don't know what it is called) on a daily basis.

T02). For Compass Ratings, display, on screen and via a email PDF, the twice weekly updated trainer/jockey win/place strike rates.

T03). For Compass Ratings, complete the eBook that explains all the weird and wonderful things that I have learned about Hong Kong Horse racing.

T04). Complete PaperTradeIt.com - a free site where you can privately log your bets and get Strike Rate, POI (to ISP and BSP) data and losing run analysis on those bets.

I'm trying to knock off the easy/quick jobs first in order to reduce the size of the list; the size of the list scares me sometimes and, believe me, I have twice as many jobs on the Admin/BAU (Business As Usual - things like automated scripts, backups and server log file analysis - stuff that all website owners have to do) task list to get through as well.

The Ten Commandments...

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this:

You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery," and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...

It creates a hostile work environment.
