Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

Well, I've got to say that I don't like Mondays!

I've also got to say that I don't like Bank Holidays (too many races when all the decent horses have run just two days before.)

And I certainly don't like rainy bank holiday Mondays (are there any other sort?) but...

Even though we didn't do so well,

I do have to say that there were a lot of non-runners yesterday and, non-runners are the bane of my life. If I rate a race with 8 declared runners and then 2 of those horses become non-runners, that totally changes the profile of the race. The Live Ratings do attempt to mitigate that but, I can only report on the data that I have at 9am each morning.

The number of combination Trifectas show that we didn't get it so wrong - we got the right three horses, we just got them in the wrong order.

Having said that, I do have to say that our Place Betting Strategy hit 4 out of 4 yesterday and 8.9775 points profit were made to the 4 points staked (in other words 12.9775 were returned to 4 points staked - assuming a 5% Betfair commission.)

So it wasn't all bad news.

Anyway, I'll get to that, firstly let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's results in more detail....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 17.65%.

Yesterday's Live Ratings, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 17.43%.

Yesterday's - Link to Follow - results for All Races (including previously unrated races), show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 15.79% from all 57 Races (including previously unrated races.)

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 113.98 units returned to 164 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -30.5%

Top Rated Horse - There were 9 winners from the top rated horses from 51 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 30.39 units returned to 51 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -40.41%

2nd Rated Horse - There were 8 winners from the second rated horses from 57 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 35.01 units returned to 57 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -38.58%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 9 winners from the third rated horses from 56 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 48.58 units returned to 56 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -13.25%

We made a profit of 8.9775 points on the day and have made a profit of 3.749 points for August.

For the new strategy we made a profit of 9.27504 points on the day and have made a profit of 9.990669 points for August.

I have added a new section to the spreadsheet to indicate the results should we ignore the odds on selections.

For the refined strategy (the one that you should be using) we made a profit of 7.188156 points on the day and have made a profit of 10.25136 points for August.

We've had a bumpy few weeks but it's nice to see that we're now back in profit.

Something to make you smile

Dear Aunt Edna,

Thanks very much for the £20 you sent me for Christmas. I spent it on a jumper.

Unfortunately the bugger fell at the third fence.

I said to a guy in the pub on Grand National day, "I bet you fifty pounds that I back the winner."

"You're on," He said liking his chances.

So I nipped over to the bookies and put £1 on every horse.

Top Tip for the Grand National, its a horse called "Premature Ejaculation" apparently it always comes first.

Today's early test ratings show 20 rated races from three meetings.

Every race is rated.

Have a great day's racing!
