Good morning...

So, a decent start to the new month.

I was always hoping that Focus Ratings would end up with a 30% strike rate for the top rated horse and a 80% strike rate for the top three rated horses.

Yesterday we got 33.33% for the top rated horse and 72.22% for the top three rated horses so...

We're not so far off.

Having said that...

Strike Rate is vanity, it's the profits that count!

And we have had a great strike rate yesterday but I don't think that there was much profit to be made.

Anyway, enough of that, firstly let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's results in more detail....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 33.33%.

Yesterday's Live Ratings, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 30.77%.

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 38.39 units returned to 55 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -30.2%

Top Rated Horse - There were 6 winners from the top rated horses from 18 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 8.82 units returned to 18 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -51%

2nd Rated Horse - There were 4 winners from the second rated horses from 19 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 16.62 units returned to 19 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -12.53%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 3 winners from the third rated horses from 18 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 12.95 units returned to 18 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -28.06%

Place Betting Strategy

There were no selections yesterday.

Now, I have written some code so that, when that happens, there will be a message displayed on the PDF to say that there are no selections.

For the basic strategy we have made a profit of 3.749 points for August.

For the new strategy we made a profit of 9.990669 points for August.

I have added a new section to the spreadsheet to indicate the results should we ignore the odds on selections.

For the refined strategy (the one that you should be using) we made a profit of 10.25136 points for August.

Something to make you laugh

I bought a horse the other day hoping to enter him into a competitive race one day.

A friend of mine said I would need to find a good trainer for the horse.

Rubbish advice, I went out and bought the horse some Nikes, and it's just made him slower if anything.

Dwarf tossing; it's a rather unpopular sport, but add a few horses and then BAM! You've got the Grand National

My mate told me to put everything I own on some horse in the 3.30 at Kempton.

Although I can't see it winning with a bed, three piece suite, a cooker and a slightly dodgy Ford Sierra on its back.

Today

Today's early test ratings show 35 rated races from five meetings.

Every race is rated.
