Good morning...
I've done a bit more work on the relevance of the day of the week to the success of the ratings.
Following Jean B.'s suggestion...
I took a look at the different top three rated horses.
From the graph we can clearly see that, for the top rated horse, we should be careful about weekends.
I sort of knew that which is one reason why I often go out at the weekends...
Rather than watch the results come in.
Performance of the Top Rated Horse by weekday
Interesting stuff, eh?
Anyway, I'll carry on with the analysis further on in this post, firstly let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's results in more detail....
Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 15.38%.
Yesterday's Live Ratings, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 17.24%.
Yesterday's - Link to Follow - results for All Races (including previously unrated races), show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 13.79% from all 29 Races (including previously unrated races.)
The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 38.97 units returned to 74 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -47.34%
Top Rated Horse - There were 4 winners from the top rated horses from 26 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 9.41 units returned to 26 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -63.81%
2nd Rated Horse - There were 6 winners from the second rated horses from 27 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 18.31 units returned to 27 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -32.19%
3rd Rated Horse - There were 2 winners from the third rated horses from 21 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 11.25 units returned to 21 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -46.43%

We made a loss of 1 point on the day and have made a loss of 10.82 points for September.
For the new strategy we made a loss of 0.678 points on the day and have made a loss of 15.188895 points for September.
I have added a new section to the spreadsheet to indicate the results should we ignore the odds on selections.
For the refined strategy (the one that you should be using) we made a loss of 0.678 points on the day and have made a loss of 15.925881 points for September.

Performance of the Top Rated Horse by weekday
As stated earlier, weekends are not so good for the top rated horse.
Performance of the Second Rated Horse by weekday
For the second rated horse, it's clearly Saturdays that need to be considered very carefully.
Performance of the Third Rated Horse by weekday
For the third rated horse, for some reason Tuesdays are bad but..
For the top two rated horses, Tuesdays are good days so I guess that it balances out.
For those of you who want to delve deeper...

Now, I'll carry on doing a bit of analysis every day (apart from Friday when I'll be at the funeral) and, once all the analysis is done, I'll do a round up post to tie it all together.
As always, I welcome any comments.
A lovely Story
A young family moved into a house next door to an empty plot. One day, a gang of building workers turned up to start building on the plot.
The young family's 5-year-old daughter naturally took an interest in all the activity going on next door and started talking with the workers.
She hung around and eventually the builders, all with hearts of gold, more or less adopted the little girl as a sort of project mascot. They chatted with her, let her sit with them while they had tea and lunch breaks, and gave her little jobs to do here and there to make her feel important.
They even gave the child her very own hard hat and gloves, which thrilled her immensely.
At the end of the first week, the smiling builders presented her with a pay envelope - containing two pounds in 10p coins. The little girl took her 'pay' home to her mother who suggested that they take the money to the bank the next day to open a savings account.
At the bank, the female cashier was tickled pink listening to the little girl telling her about her 'work' on the building site and the fact she had a 'pay packet.'
"You must have worked very hard to earn all this," said the cashier.
The little girl proudly replied, "Yes, I worked every day with Steve and Wayne and Mike. We're building a big house."
"My goodness gracious," said the cashier, "And will you be working on the house again next week?"
The child thought for a moment. Then she said seriously:
"I think so. Provided those w*nkers at Jewsons deliver the f**king bricks on time."
Today's early test ratings show 29 rated races from four meetings.
Every race is rated.
Have a great day's racing!
