Good morning...

What should have been a quiet and relaxing weekend...

Was fairly quiet and relaxing but I did get a lot of work done.

Unfortunately, the script that should generate our new R8 based Portfolio selections still refuses to work.

The script runs but just doesn't give me any output.

With a fresh pair of eyes, I hope to get that sorted today.

It seems to have been an incredibly busy month for me but things seems to be coming together in terms of stuff actually getting finished.

I have been putting a whole load of new content and tools on Intelligent-Betting.com

Roy (a long time Focus Ratings member and my partner on Intelligent Betting) used 2 of these tools (which I believe are unique to Intelligent Betting - and, no, I can't tell you which two) to the following effect yesterday...

There will be more tools added this week.

I have, believe or not, now got postcodes for every stable and every race course in the UK.

I have been banging away trying to use the Google Maps API to work out distance traveled to race course for every horse running every day.

Not quite there yet but that might throw up an interesting angle.

Some of you have noticed that the web site was slow to load over the weekend.

This is my fault;

I've been running a massive query in order to populate a new database table which (now that it is finished) will allow me to produce a number of eBooks (to be updated and published 4 times a year) to show the following...

Task List...

In order to be honest and truly transparent with you...

I will now be publishing my task list on the Morning News.

You will be able to see what I am working on and, more importantly, what progress I am making.

Here are the current tasks...

T01). Work out a number of strategies to utilise R8 and provide Focus Rating members free Portfolio Betting selections across a number of different betting strategies (win backing, place backing, dutching, laying and, the other thing that I described that I don't know what it is called) on a daily basis.

T02). For Compass Ratings, display, on screen and via a email PDF, the twice weekly updated trainer/jockey win/place strike rates.

T03). For Compass Ratings, complete the eBook that explains all the weird and wonderful things that I have learned about Hong Kong Horse racing.

T04). Complete PaperTradeIt.com - a free site where you can privately log your bets and get Strike Rate, POI (to ISP and BSP) data and losing run analysis on those bets.

T05). Re-launch Intelligent-Betting.com - very good good things are happening there as we speak and it is becoming a vital (and also, very profitable) tool for those who like to think about their betting.

I'm trying to knock off the easy/quick jobs first in order to reduce the size of the list; the size of the list scares me sometimes and, believe me, I have twice as many jobs on the Admin/BAU (Business As Usual - things like automated scripts, backups and server log file analysis - stuff that all website owners have to do) task list to get through as well.

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 92.86 units returned to 99 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -6.2%

Top Rated Horse - There were 8 winners from the top rated horses from 36 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 26.02 units returned to 36 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -27.72%

2nd Rated Horse - There were 4 winners from the second rated horses from 28 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 27.05 units returned to 28 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -3.39%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 6 winners from the third rated horses from 35 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 39.79 units returned to 35 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, 13.69%

Non Handicap Races - Top Rated Horse - There were 17 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 5 Top Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for Top Rated Horses) was 29.41%

Top Rated Horse - If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 8.82 units returned to 17 units staked. The Top Rated Non-Handicap Profit Index was, thus, -48.12%

Non Handicap Races - Top Three Rated Horses - There were 17 non-handicap races yesterday. From these races there were 11 Top Three Rated winners. Thus, the Strike Rate (for the Top Three Rated Horses) was 64.71%
