Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

You know, at 14:15 yesterday I was tempted to send you all an email telling you that "It's Beer O'Clock!"

You see, by then the first two of the PBS selections had run and the profits that they had made us meant that, even if the other five lost, we'd still be in the money for the day.

However, I was sort of drawn (by a strange and weird magical force that I find myself totally unable to resist) to the terrasse of my local bar to have a nice cold Stella instead.

Which was kind of appropriate as four of the other five horses did, in fact, lose.

However, we still made a massive profit on the day.

Our top rated Cesarwitch selection (Quick Jack) only came third but it did pay 5.09 as a Betfair place bet. I've been looking at the other tipster/pundits suggestions and it seems that nobody called it better than that.

Having said that, it was a 34 horse race and how the hell do you rate that?

As a recompense (for not giving you a 100/1 Cesarwitch winner) I do have a joke for you but, you'll have to read the rest of the results first before you get to them.

Something to make you smile

The Country House

At dawn the telephone rings. "Hello, Sir Humphrey? This is Declan, the caretaker at your country house."

"Ah yes, Declan. What can I do for you? Is there a problem?"

"Um, I am just calling to advise you, Sir Humphrey, that your parrot died"

"My parrot? Dead? The one that won the International competition?"

"Yes Sir, that's the one."

"Damn! That's a pity! I spent a small fortune on that bird. What did he die from?"

"From eating rotten meat." The caretaker replies.

"Rotten meat? Who the hell fed him rotten meat?"

"Nobody Sir Humphrey. He ate the meat of one of the dead horses."

"Dead horse? What dead horse?"

"The thoroughbred, Mr Lucky. The horse that won the big race at Goodwood, He died from all that work pulling the water cart."

"Are you insane? What water cart?"

"The one we used to put out the fire."

"Good gracious man! What fire are you talking about?"

"The one at your house! A candle fell and the curtains caught on fire."

"What the.....!!! But there's electricity at the house!!!! What was the candle for?"

"For the funeral."

"WHAT BLOODY FUNERAL?!"

"Your mother's, Sir Humphrey. She showed up one night out of the blue and I thought she was a thief, so I hit her with your new Tiger Woods Nike Driver."

SILENCE....................

TOTAL SILENCE....................

MORE SILENCE....................

EVEN MORE SILENCE....................

And then...

"Declan, if you broke that driver you're fired!"
