Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the slight lack of a Morning News yesterday;

The alarm clock went off at 4am but...

I fell back to sleep and stayed that way until 8:30am.

Well, what a strange day's racing yesterday...

Two meetings abandoned and some rather lacklustre results from the remaining three meetings.

But, before I get onto that stuff, let's look at yesterday's results....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 16.67%.

Now, obviously I'm not happy with that but it was a strange day .

Forecasts

There was one forecast yesterday.

Leopardstown 15:35 - The CSF paid £2.59

Tricast

There were no tricasts yesterday.

Winners

From the 18 rated races there were 12 winners (from the top 3 rated horses) - four of those were at reasonable prices.

Course Time Horse ISP BSP
Leopardstown 12:20 Down Under 8.0 13.45
Newbury 13:05 Azure Fly 6.0 6.2
Newbury 14:10 Parlour Games 7.0 7.6
Newbury 15:15 Polamco 7.5 6.42

Comments...

Here's the actual review of some of the races...

1). Leopardstown 13:25 - We predicted the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

2). Newbury 14:10 - We predicted the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

3). Newbury 14:45 - Our top rated horse was a non-runner. The Live Ratings promoted the 2nd and 3rd rated horses and brought in Seventh Sky as the new 3rd rated horse and, as a result, we got the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

4). Limerick 14:50 - We predicted the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

5). Leopardstown 15:35 - We got the forecast in this race. The CSF paid £2.59.

6). Newbury 15:30 - We predicted the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

Now, this sort of shows the value of doing these morning reviews (when I can manage to drag myself out of bed) as, we might have had a bad day yesterday (based upon the strike rate of the top rated horse) but...

I've still managed to find 6 good(ish) things to take away from the day.

And, after all that, blindly backing every top three rated runner (to equal stakes of £1) would have returned £51 for £53 staked.

Obviously, a loss to ISP but that would have been profitable to BSP.

I'm not advocating doing that, mind you; it's just a reminder that, even with a strike rate (for the top rated horse) of only 16.67% - the ratings were still profitable in a way.

The Portfolio

There was a Banker's Bet yesterday (but no Chancer's Bet.)

Unfortunately, the race was abandoned.

On the Portfolio Page there is now a link to the Banker's Bet Proofing Page and, also to the Chancer's Bet proofing page.

You may subscribe to my Portfolio. To do so, you need to go to your Members Page and change option 4 on the Your Profile bit.

If you haven't subscribed, the button will say Yes - just click on it and you'll be signed up.

And finally...

strong>Winter Upgrades

I've written a post to detail the Winter Upgrades - you can see it here... Winter Upgrades

I am updating that post to show which upgrades have been implemented and, where possible, to indicate when I think that an upgrade may be implemented.

I have been doing some background infrastructure work to allow me to continue the Winter upgrade work.

Speed Ratings

I have re-jigged my IT so that I now have a machine that is dedicated to working on the Speed Ratings.

I'm going to kick off a new set of calculations today but I have no idea how long they will take to run.

Thus, the work will continue but I won't have much to say about it until all the numbers are crunched.

Today

Today's ratings show 15 races from 2 meetings.

Taunton 14:00 - Our top rated horse has a confidence level of 174.01% and is dropping in class. It is also the Jockey's only ride at that meeting and the Trainer's only horse at the meeting. Aso has won and been placed over the predicted soft going but, the market seems to agree as Oddschecker shows it at odds-on.

In no way is that a tip; it's just a race where I'll be interested in looking at the results.

With only 15 races it'[s hard for me to pull a rabbit out of the hat and I have to be honest and say that nothing else stands out to me.

So, have a great day's racing!

5 star ratingsOnce again, if you've got anything to say about Focus Ratings, please wander over to Focus Ratings Review and have your say.

As always...

My kindest regards
