Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

Yesterday was my day off so I didn't even think about horse racing at all.

Instead, I watched a film/documentary about horse racing!

It was called Dark Horse - I'm not sure if it's been broadcast on British TV or if it's available from Amazon but...

If you have the chance to watch it,

I'd certainly recommend that you do.

It's all about a horse called Dream Alliance.

A horse that is bought by a small Welsh mining community and goes on (after recovering from injury) to win the 2009 Welsh Grand National

Such a great, feel good, film/documentary.

Quote from the film.... "When I went to the races, I wasn't Janice the supermarket cleaner anymore, I was Janice the racehorse owner."

Another quote (once again from Janice, the barmaid who also worked as a supermarket cleaner to pay the horse's bills)... "To look at him you'd think that I brought that into the world.

Short of giving birth to him, I brought him into the world.

And he brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of people!

He enriched a lot of lives.

And that's, that's something special.

Another memorable quote... After his accident - a quote to his vet... "If there's any chance that you can save him, I don't care if he can race again. You've got to keep him alive."

Well, they kept him alive, he raced again and won the Welsh Grand National the following year.

Good film - not sure why I spent my day off watching that rather than Rambo 3 or Die Hard 4 (or Emmanuelle 6) but I'm very glad that I did.

So, now that I've got that off my chest, what of yesterday?

Well, for the backing the top rated horse on the first page of the ratings we only had 5 races as Tramore was abandonned.

From the 5 races we only got 2 top rated winners but they gave us 6.5645 points returned to 5 points staked.

For our First Page Strategy we only got 1.4725 points returned to 4 points staked.

Our Place Betting Strategy gave us 3.672 points returned to 3 points staked.

So, overall, a loss but it was a difficult day.

Any, let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's results in more detail....

Something to make you laugh

One from David O....

SOME GOOD ADVICE

Two aliens landed in the Arizona desert near a gas station that was closed for the night.

They approached one of the gas pumps and the younger alien addressed it, saying, "Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader."

The Gas pump, of course, didn't respond.

The Younger alien became angry at the lack of response.

The Older alien said, "I'd calm down if I were you."

The Younger alien ignored the warning and repeated his greeting.

Again, there was no response.

Angry at the pump's haughty attitude, he drew his ray gun and said gruffly, "Greetings, Earthling. We come in peace. Take us to your leader or I will fire!"

The Older alien again warned his comrade saying, "You probably don't want to do that! I really think that will make him mad."

"Rubbish," replied the cocky, young alien. He Aimed his weapon and opened fire.

There was a huge explosion.

A massive fireball roared towards him and blew the younger alien off his feet and threw him in a burnt, smoking mess about 200 yards away in a cactus patch.

Half an hour passed. When he finally regained consciousness, he refocused his three eyes, straightened his bent antenna, and looked dazedly at the older, wiser alien who was standing over him shaking his big, green head.

"What a ferocious creature!" exclaimed the young, fried alien. "He almost killed me! How did you know he was so dangerous?"

The Older alien leaned over, placed a friendly feeler on his crispy friend and replied, "If there's one thing I've learned during my intergalactic travels, you never mess with a guy who can loop his penis over his shoulder twice and then stick it in his ear."

Today

Today's early test ratings show 26 rated races from four meetings.

Have a great day's racing!

As always...

My kindest regards
