Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

Well, yesterday was one of those wonderful days when...

You could have blindly backed every top three rated horse to level stakes and,

Made an overall profit.

If you had backed every one of the 57 top three rated horses yesterday (taking non-runners into account) to £1 each,

You would have had £79.83 returned.

In other words, a profit of £22.83

Which equals a return on investment of 40%

And, what's more, our Banker's Bet won at 33/1 ISP (82.68 BSP!)

Let's look at yesterday's results in more detail....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 26.32%.

A pretty decent strike rate.

More important to me, though, is the strike rate for the top three rated horses; 73.68% of all winners yesterday came from a top three rated horse.

Forecasts

There were no forecasts yesterday.

Tricasts/Trifectas

There was one trifecta yesterday.

Southwell 14:40 - The Trifecta paid £18.70

Winners

From the 19 rated races there were 14 winners (from the top 3 rated horses) - four of those were at nice prices.

Course Time Horse ISP BSP
Naas 12:30 Lisclogher Lad 7.0 17.5
Naas 13:30 McKinley 34.0 82.68
Plumpton 14:50 Itoldyou 12.0 15.9
Plumpton 15:55 Hold the Bucks 7.0 7.09

Comments...

Here's the actual review of some of the races...

1). Naas 13:00 - We predicted the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

2). Naas 13:30 - Our top rated horse (and today's Portfolio Bet) won at 34.0 ISP (82.68 BSP.)

3). Southwell 14:10 - We predicted the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

4). Southwell 14:40 - We predicted the first three horses in the right order. The Trifecta paid £18.70

5). Southwell 15:15 - We predicted the first three horses - unfortunately in the wrong order.

The Portfolio

There was a Banker's Bet yesterday (but no Chancer's Bet.)

Bankers Bet = Irish Logic - where R4 Status = 1 and the Horse\'s Average R4 is greater than 4.0 and where the Race is Not a Handicap Race and Horse\'s last run was less than 14 days ago and where Position last time out = Unplaced and where Country = IRE and Horse was NOT a Course Winner and Horse was NOT a Distance Winner

Selection = Back to ISP - Naas - 13:30:00 - Mckinley (7)

Races (over last year): 10 Wins: 6 Strike Rate: 60.00% ROI: 164.40% AV SP: 2.74%

McKinley beat the odds-on favourite to win at 33/1 (82.68 BSP!)

Which sort of means that Wine O'Clock arrived slightly early yesterday afternoon!

As celebrations were certainly in order.

Today

Today's 4am ratings show 26 races from 4 meetings.

Lingfield 14:40 - This race looks interesting to me (and in no way is this a tip) as our top rated horse, Sands Cove, is dropping a class and has been placed 3 times over the going. Perhaps I'm still excited after yesterday's big win but, Oddschecker currently has this horse at 21/2 and it's the jockey's only ride at the meeting.

I'm really struggling to find anything else to say about today's racing but I can say this...

This is my 49th Morning News and it's really proving to be of value to me; the day after review of the races is starting to show me areas to look into. For example, I don't show forecast prices on my early morning test ratings; this is so that i don't get distracted by the prices.

However, from tomorrow, I shall show the forecast prices as I need to look at those horses (such as McKinley yesterday) who are top rated at big prices.

I have transferred the Speed Ratings to yet another machine (the last one just wasn't up to the job) and, if all goes well, will have the core data processed today.

So, as always...

Have a great day's racing!

5 star ratingsOnce again, if you've got anything to say about Focus Ratings, please wander over to Focus Ratings Review and have your say.

As always...

My kindest regards
