Morning News

It seems that we had problems yesterday.

And it's typical that I decided, having seen the 6am test ratings, that it was safe to go out.

The actual ratings look like they were right but, for some reason, the going wins and places weren't included.

It looks like it may have been a server glitch; I can't see any issues in the server logs but the portfolio email went out very late.

I have put a support call into my hosting company as it may have been their database server (or connectivity to it) that had problems.

In any case, for the next few weeks I shall be sitting around and watching the whole process.

Yesterday's Results

An below average day, yesterday, as can be seen from the Results.

A strike rate (for the top rated horse) of 17.39% is not what we should be getting.

Forecasts

There was one forecast yesterday.

There were no tricasts yesterday.

From the 23 rated races there were 4 winners (from the top 3 rated horses) - Only one of them was at a reasonable price.

With the lack of some of the metrics (due to the system problems), it is difficult to comment on any trends from yesterday.

Dutching

Because I spent most of the afternoon trying to identify yesterday's problems I didn't have any time to continue my investigations into the subject of Dutching.

If all goes well today I shall have time to delve into that spreadsheet.

Today

Five meetings today (from my 4am test ratings I make it 32 rated races.)

I've been up since early, testing the code and producing test ratings.

We're effectively running the same code that produced good ratings on Monday (I was worried that yesterday's code may have had a file corruption.)

Important

Because of the problems yesterday, I shall be manually walking the ratings process through today.

Thus, the ratings will be slightly later (maybe up to an hour) than normal today.
