Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

Just another very quick morning news today as...

a). There's not too much that I can say about yesterday and

b). There's too much work to do on the Speed Ratings today and I need to carry on number crunching as soon as I can.

So...

I have to say that the number crunching on the Speed Ratings is taking longer than I expected.

It's important that I get it right and the sheer boring work of putting numbers into a spreadsheet is rather time consuming.

So, having said that, let's look at yesterday's results in more detail....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 11.11%.

Obviously, I'm not happy about that but these things happen.

Forecasts

There were no forecasts yesterday.

Tricasts/Trifectas

There were no tricasts/trifecta yesterday.

Winners

From the 18 rated races there were 8 winners (from the top 3 rated horses) - two of those were at nice prices.

Course Time Horse ISP BSP
Plumpton 15:30 Sirop de Menthe 7.0 8.96
Plumpton 16:30 Missile Man 11.0 14.0

Comments...

There's not really very much I can say about yesterday but here goes...

1). Ludlow 16:20 - We got the first three horses in this race; unfortunately, not in the right order.

2). Wolverhampton 17:10 - Our third rated horse was a non-runner. The Live Ratings brought in Apparatchika.

Apparatchika won the race.

The Portfolio

There was a Banker's Bet yesterday (but no Chancer's Bet.)

Bankers Bet = Bumper Drops! - where R4 Status = 1 and where Race Type = National Hunt - Flat and where RC0 (Good Race/Bad Race) = 1 and Horse has dropped 1 Class

Selection = Back to ISP - Plumpton - 16:30:00 - Popping Along (8)

Races (over last year): 19 Wins: 6 Strike Rate: 31.58% ROI: 128.21% AV SP: 4.06

Popping Along waddled along to 4th place.

On the Portfolio Page there is now a link to the Banker's Bet Proofing Page and, also to the Chancer's Bet proofing page.

You may subscribe to my Portfolio. To do so, you need to go to your Members Page and change option 4 on the Your Profile bit.

If you haven't subscribed, the button will say Yes - just click on it and you'll be signed up.

Today

Today's 4am ratings show 12 races from 2 meetings.

I'm not going to do any detailed analysis today as I really need to get on with the Speed Ratings.

However, the following races stand out for me...

Southwell 14:10

Southwell 14:40

Southwell 15:40

Taunton 16:00

Southwell 16:10

The reason for being interested in those races is that the top rated horse in each case is also the horse with the highest Average R4.

So, it'll be interesting to see if, tomorrow, I am shouting that the top rated horse in each of those races won (or was placed) or...

Trying to explain why the top rated horse in each of those races came last.

It'll be one or the other (or somewhere in-between.)

Focus Ratings was never intended to encourage you to bet on every race; if it helps you choose which races to look at, then it is doing its job.

I'm not sure if there is any mileage in looking at top rated horses who are also those horses with the highest Average Rating in the race but, if the top rated horses in the 5 races that I've mentioned win or get placed then I guess that I'll be coding a spreadsheet of all such instances over the last 18 months to investigate further.

Anyway, have a great day's racing!

5 star ratingsOnce again, if you've got anything to say about Focus Ratings, please wander over to Focus Ratings Review and have your say.

As always...

My kindest regards
