Morning (or Evening) News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning (or evening)...

OK - a word of warning...

Today (or as it happens, tomorrow - isn't insomnia wonderful?) I will be upgrading my laptop (my main machine) to a different version of Linux (the Operating System that I use.)

That means that I shall be unable to access email from as soon as the ratings have gone out.

However, I have got more than a few emails to catch up on so I have built another machine that will allow me to stay in contact.

The reason that I am doing this is that my laptop is pretty much at the end of its life and I'm just trying to get a few more months out of it before having to dip into the red wine and smelly cheese fund to buy a replacement.

Moving swiftly on...

It was a pretty good day for the new strategy...

Leopardstown 12:50 - Waitaki - Unplaced

Leopardstown 13:20 - Awtaad - 1st - 2.38 ISP

Aintree 13:25 - Perform - Ist - 4.33 ISP

Galway 13:30 - Well Taken - Unplaced

Leopardstown 13:50 - Theodorico - 1st - 2.0 ISP

So, we got 8.71 returned for 5 points staked; once again, a 74% retrun on investment kind of works for me.

And, more importantly (for me, at least), I do like the 66.66% strike rate.

Anyway, I'll get to that, firstly let's get on and take a quick look at yesterday's/today's results in more detail....

Yesterday's Results

Yesterday's Results, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 18.52%.

Yesterday's Live Ratings, show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 17.24%.

Yesterday's - Link to Follow - results for All Races (including previously unrated races), show a strike rate (for our top rated horse) of 17.24% from all 29 Races (including previously unrated races.)

The Overall Profit Index. If you had blindly backed every top three rated horse in all of the races you would have had 70.68 units returned to 82 units staked. The Overall Profit Index was, thus, -13.8%

Top Rated Horse - There were 5 winners from the top rated horses from 27 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 20.72 units returned to 27 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, -23.26%

2nd Rated Horse - There were 7 winners from the second rated horses from 26 Races. If you had blindly backed the 2nd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 28.13 units returned to 26 units staked. The 2nd Rated Profit Index was, thus, 8.19%

3rd Rated Horse - There were 5 winners from the third rated horses from 29 Races. If you had blindly backed the 3rd rated horse in all of the races you would have had 21.83 units returned to 29 units staked. The 3rd Rated Profit Index was, thus, -24.72%

And many thanks to David O. for this one (which makes me feel so much more healthy!)

So much wisdom!

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine and those who don't and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand:

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, In beer there is freedom, In water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) – bacteria.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of pooh annually.

However, We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and fermenting.

Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of Shit.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service!

And one from Terry B. I'm always grateful for your contributions TB.

Bear on the roof

A man in Canada awakes one morning to find a bear on his roof.

He calls a bear remover.

He arrives,in his van with a ladder, a baseball bat, a 12 bore shotgun and badly scarred pit bull.

"What are you going to do?"asks the man.

The bear remover said... "I am going to climb the ladder to the roof, knock the bear off with the baseball bat, then when the bear falls off, the pit bull is trained to grab the bear by the testicles and not let him go.

The bear will be subdued enough to go in the cage, in the van."

He then hands the man the 12 Bore shotgun.

"Why have you given this to me for?"

"Just In case the bear knocks me off the roof....

Shoot the dog."

Boom boom.

Today

Today's early test ratings show 29 rated races from four meetings.

The Wexford races seem to have been entirely missed out.

I shall try to rectify that before the ratings go out at 10am.

Have a great day's racing!
