Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... Although there weren't any major standouts yesterday... The strike rate (for the top rated horse) was quite respectable and, Had you blindly backed the top rated horse in every race (not that I would recommend that) you would have even made a small profit to ISP. The new R6 Plus ratings did slightly better with a strike rate of 35.71% and a POI (Profit on Investment) of 48.18% to ISP. Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... Well, yesterday was certainly a day for Forecasts and Trifectas. I've listed them below. Looking at the ratings first thing in the morning I thought that it would be a quiet day but, boy was I wrong? A 40% strike rate (for the top rated horse) isn't anything to sniff about and, had you blindly backed every top rated horse (not something that I would recommend) you would have made a profit of 56.52% on your stakes (to ISP.) The standouts for me, yesterday, was the 14:20 at Fairyhouse; a 28 runner race and we got the first three in the right order. Also, the 16:45 at Ffos Las - we got the forecast and it paid £158.52 to a £1 stake. That must have been some race as 6 out of the 14 runners Pulled Up. The new R6 Plus ratings didn't do so well but that's only to be expected as they seem to do better with higher quality racing. However, they did manage a 31.25% strike rate and a POI (Profit on Investment) of 30.43% (to ISP.) For more detail, here are the results in the Traffic Light Results PDF format... Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... Well, there's not too much to say about yesterday's ratings. The winners that we got weren't at high prices but we have days like that sometimes. As far as the new R6 Plus ratings are concerned there was a similar strike rate but slightly more in terms of returns. The only highlight was that the R6 Plus ratings did manage to winkle out Two Hoots (our top rated horse in the 15:15 at Sedgefield) who duly won at 13/2 (7.89 BSP.) I don't know what to say about today; it's really expecting a bit much for the ratings to manage ratings a 40 horse 37 furlong race but...4 For what it's worth, our top rated horse is Tiger Roll. Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... The first day of Aintree gave us the sort of result that I would expect given the field sizes of some of the races. There were no real standouts but there's plenty of green on the results page - just not enough relating to the top rated horses for my liking. However, for the new R6 Plus ratings we had a similar strike rate (for the top rated horse) but, as R6 Plus is better at wrinkling out higher priced winners we had 27 points (to ISP) returned to the 20 points staked. This equates to a POI (Profit on Investment) of 35%. For more detail, here are the results in the Traffic Light Results PDF format... Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... Well, I thought that yesterday would turn out better than it eventually did. Every one of the first 6 races were won by a top three rated horses. However, not enough of the day's races were won by a top rated horse to put a smile on my face. The highlight of the day has to be the 15:45 at Wincanton where we got the trifecta. The Trifecta paid £233.30 to a £1 stake. The new R6 Plus ratings didn't do much better with only 5 of the 13 races being won by a top rated horse. This equates to a strike rate of 38.46% For more detail, here are the results in the Traffic Light Results PDF format... Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... Well, yesterday finished far better than I expected. Of course, it doesn't hurt when the top rated horse in the very first race of the day wins at 12/1! In fact, 3 of the 6 races at Lingield yesterday were won by a top rated horse. There were 5 winners from the top rated horses from 17 Races. If you had blindly backed the top rated horse in all of the races you would have had 23.24 units returned to 17 units staked. The Top Rated Profit Index was, thus, 36.71% As far as the R6 Plus ratings were concerned... We didn't do so well with only 2 top rated winners from the 11 races but, We got 17 points (to ISP) returned to the 11 points staked so it's not all bad. In any case, I have the feeling that R6 and R6 Plus work far better with better quality racing and yesterday's racing certainly wasn't that. This is proven with the higher incidence of high priced winners with R6 Plus (as compared to R4) and concurs with the work I did a couple of weeks ago with the R6 Plus Priced Based Analysis. I'm going to spend some time today working on a premise that we should use R4 (or R5) for day to day racing and use R6 Plus for the better quality stuff. Unfortunately, today looks very similar and... Looking at the 2am test ratings, nothing really stands out for me. Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... Yesterday was pretty much what we could expect from a pretty poor day's racing at the end of the jumps season and the start of the Flat season. The only standout for me was the 14:00 at Doncaster where our top rated horse, Right Action, won at 7/1 (9.4 BSP.) What was nice is that our second rated horse actually came second (at 8/1) and the resulting forecast paid £57.29 to a £1 stake. Morning News

focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning... A good day for the ratings, yesterday... Which bodes well for the first day of Cheltenham. All 7 of today's races at Cheltenham should be R6 Plus races but I won't know for sure until the ratings are actually compiled. Just as a reminder, Top rated R6 Plus horses in Class 1 races (regardless of the forecast starting price) have a 49% strike rate and have shown a 76% POI (Profit on Investment) historically. 2019-03-12--1552368400_661x203_scrot For more detail of yesterday's results, here are the results in the Traffic Light Results PDF format...
