Wine O’Clock!

focus-ratings-win-o-clockIt's got to be that time,

Hasn't it?

So... Getting a bit peeved about the time that the Systems page was taking to load.... I've re-written the code to make it an awful lot faster! The system statistics now get updated once a day rather than every time you open the page. I guess that I didn't anticipate that, after less than 3 weeks, there'd already be 71 public systems! I think that that's going to be all for today... The church bell has just rung 6pm (here in France) and... That means only one thing... Hey, hey... It's Wine O'Clock!

Builder – Updates

focus_ratings_system_builderBuilder!

Today, I have managed to add another 4 updates to provide more of the functionality that you have requested. Now... I have to say that I'm between a rock and a hard place here as... On the one hand I need to keep the builder simple enough so that it doesn't frighten off new members but... Also has all the functionality that you have asked for. So, what I've done is... Hidden the complex bits!

Free System – 87.5% Strike Rate

So... Ang sent me a system that she wanted me to look at... And, if acceptable, add it to my portfolio? I took a look and, so... I dived into the Builder and took a look. And... Found a way of making it more acceptable to me (and my requirements.)

Builder – Updates

Today, I have managed to add some more of the functionality that you have requested. 1). I have added a Race Course checkbox area. This is so that you can break down your systems by race course. For example, you may have an All Weather system that might not work as well at Southwell as it does at the other All Weather courses (or, vice versa?) JimSeven has posted a Great Post on the Forum, explaining the characteristics of the different courses. Many thanks... JimSeven! 2). I've very slightly changed the way that the results are displayed on the Builder. Basically just some stuff to highlight the way that non-runners effect the calculations (because it was confusing me no end - but that's not difficult!) 3). For new members, I have updated the User Handbook but I do have to say that Jill will be proof reading it tomorrow and, thus, until then, there may be a few Smelling Pistakes? I'll be working on updating the Cheat Sheet tomorrow.

Over the weekend I have managed to add some of the functionality that you have requested. 1). In the Detailed Analysis Box I have added a... link so that you can scroll past the Detailed Analysis. This just speeds things up for those of you who wish to use the Builder in simple format. 2). I have also added a Race Month checkbox area. This is mainly for those of you who understand that All Weather races in the winter are different from All Weather races in the summer (Thanks, Ang, for explaining that to me.) 3). I have also added a new dialogue so that you can select specific LTO ranges. I am working on producing a checklist for Race Courses. This will happen sometime this morning. I have also fixed a few small bugs... Thanks, Guy, for pointing those out to me. I shall also be running an update tonight to include Average R4 into the Builder (Jared, such a good idea!) Over the next week I shall be adding TCW% (Trainer Course Win Percentage) to the daily ratings (and also, the Builder.)

Builder – System Options…

I don't know what the weather is like where you are? My experience is, that if you live in Manchester, it's probably cold and raining? But, over here (in France), it is criminally hot! Anyway... Work must go on? And I certainly don't want to give you nightmares by telling you that it's so hot that I'm sat in front of 3 hot computers wearing just my undies! So I won't tell you that! Anyway... This morning I received an email from a member who asked... "Is there anyway to switch off Builder Selection emails if there are no selections that day?" Well, I've done just that!

Free System – 100% Strike Rate!

This morning I received an email from a member who asked me to look at a system... And, if acceptable, add it to my portfolio? I just couldn't believe the stats... So, wanting to check them out... I dived into the Builder and took a look. I'm amazed at what I found!

Free System – Strike Rate = 78.57%

This morning I mentioned, in a post.. That I'm not really interested in high strike rate, low SP systems. They just don't suit my mentality? However, a member (who probably wishes to remain anonymous - thanks John R) sent me an email to suggest that I take another look at the opportunities that low priced horses might offer. So, wanting to prove him wrong... I dived into the Builder and took a look. I'm ashamed to say that John R was right and I was wrong!

Free System – ROI = 224.98%

Over the last year, or so, I have been doing a lot of analysis of the Ratings results... Partly to try to improve the ratings but, also... To try and find angles to profit from the ratings. As a result, I've got hundreds of spreadsheets full of test data. This morning I remembered a spreadsheet that was full of analysis of the performance of the Beaten Favourite on the Flat. There was, I seemed to remember, an interesting element to that spreadsheet? So, I then spent the next 3 hours (perhaps I exaggerate slightly?) trying to find the relevant spreadsheet! A word to the wise... Always name your spreadsheets so that you can tell what they contain just by looking at the file name?

Free System – ROI = 163.71%

So, another day, another system. I know that many of you don't use systems and just use the ratings in the manner for which they were initially created... Namely, to reduce the field and allow you to concentrate on the real contenders. However, I promised, yesterday, that I would create a portfolio of systems that you might want to subscribe to... And so, it was an early start for me so that that I could come up with another system to add to the portfolio.
