So, once again, I totally missed out on the fact that there was an important race today!
It wasn't until I received an email from GeeGeez.co.uk (referring to the race) that I realised that, once again, I know absolutely nothing about Horse Racing!
I am going to spend my day off tomorrow producing and then printing out a calendar of all major horse races for the rest of the year - and also for all of 2015!
Then, the document will be framed and hung on the wall above my computer screens!
Well, obviously, our top rated horse, Angel Gabriel, won!
And, then, our second rated horse, Suegioo, came second!
And, our third rated horse, Nobel Silk, what happened to him?
Well he could only manage a fourth place!
But that was in a 19 horse £140,000 race - the biggest staying handicap in Europe!
I have now learned that....
The Northumberland Plate originally took place on a Wednesday, and for many years the meeting was a holiday for local mine workers. The race became popularly known as the "Pitmen's Derby". The meeting ceased to be a holiday in 1949, and the race was switched to a Saturday in 1952.
The Northumberland Plate is now one of the richest two-mile handicaps in the world. It has been sponsored by John Smith's since 2003. - courtesy Wikipedia
I have been told that the Computer Straight Forecast came in at £49.78!
And, finally....
I've learned that I really do need to learn more about this Horse Racing lark!
I really do hope that you made some money on the Northumberland Plate today!
My kindest regards
