Smaller Ratings…

focus-ratings-systems-A5A5 Booklet?

A couple of weeks ago Terry sent me the following mail....

I don’t know if this will be of interest to some of your members, Keith but, sometime ago, I worked out a way to convert the website ratings into a Word .doc.

It sounds a bit of a work up as written here but soon becomes second nature after a bit of practice.

The drawback of course is that it doesn’t contain all the RC, Course & race type wins percentage information as per the PDF download files, but does come in handy if you want a printable file that you can format and annotate yourself.

Now, I've been a bit busy but...

Here's what you have to do....

Instructions

Step 3 onwards is optional but does have the advantage of cutting down on paper to make everything more compact.

Step 1: Left click, hold and pull mouse down to highlight all online ratings page (on the Ratings Page on the website) selections – right click - copy [or Ctrl + C].

Step 2: Open new Word page – right click – paste [or Ctrl + V]

Step 3: Click select drop down menu [Home Tab R/H side top ribbon] – select all.

Step 4: Click select font size drop down window [Home Tab R/H side top ribbon] – select 8 – click smaller figure A next to font size drop down window to reduce down to 7 (or leave at 8, your choice).

Step 5: Select margins [Page layout Tab L/H side top ribbon] – select narrow.

Step 6: Select page size [Page layout Tab L/H side top ribbon] – select A5

Now save your document.

Conclusion

Now...

I haven't used Microsoft Word since I was in London (back in 2002) so I can't test this out for myself.

But, it all looks logical?

I think, that any of you who have printers that can print both sides of the paper, might find a really significant reduction in paper (and ink) costs?

I did suggest to Terry that this might be an ideal additional format for the Course specific ratings; the sort of thing that you could print off and put in your pocket...

Before you go to Kempton Park to lose all your wages...

On those Gee Gees?

As I explained...

I know someone who is a lawyer and, occasionally, she has to take clients to the races (her office is in Yorkshire so she's got some nice race courses to visit.)

I know, it's a hard life, isn't it?

She's a mate so...

When she does that, I send her a Meeting specific ratings PDF but...

It contains a bit too much information for her, or her clients.

After all, they're just lawyers or lawyers' clients, out for a champagne jolly (and a day off work?)

Thus, an A5 single page booklet containing the basic information would be ideal for her?

I should mention that, often...

Her clients sign up for the ratings, as a result!

But...

Only if they've had a winning day?

However...

If you think that having the ratings (both, all of them and just the course specific ones) in an A5 Word document (to save you paper and make it more convenient for Race visits)...

Then let me know and I'll write some code to auto-generate them.

If it's in Word format then...

As Terry mentioned...

You can edit them (add comments etc.) yourself?

In the meantime...

Many thanks to Terry for coming up with this brilliant idea!

As always...

My kindest regards
